 | | Jack Herrington digs his new Apple iPhone. With built-in WiFi, a great Internet browser, and iPod functionality at his fingertips, he wonders why he waited four whole days after its release to buy one. Now, when he goes for coffee, the phone logs into the coffee shop's password-protected WiFi and buzzes gently if he gets new e-mail on one of his three accounts. Pretty sweet. Like many of you, Jack also digs tinkering -- and in this week's feature article, he shows you how to develop a custom app for the iPhone using existing Web tools like PHP and XML. This enables him to use the device to control his Macintosh remotely. Take a look -- and be sure to check out all of the other great new resources on developerWorks this week, in the listings below. I don't have an iPhone, but maybe it's time I made the leap. I've been muddling along with a basic pay-as-you-go model for years. However, the latter does have its advantages: - It's cheap (much to my delight).
- I've now mastered the art of keeping conversations brief (much to the delight of my family and friends).
